Hello Class,
Our last unit is called "Lessons in Life." We will be reading written works that teach a lesson for or about life and writing our own individual written work that teaches a lesson for or about life.
Monday:
Bring a poem, short story, non-fiction, or song lyrics that teaches a positive lesson about or for life. Make sure the piece resonates with you and teaches a lesson that you would apply to your own life. Be prepared to share!
Wednesday:
Write and bring in a working draft of a poem, short story, non-fiction, or written work that teaches a lesson about life that you have learned and that you believe others should be informed about and/or apply to their lives. By "working draft," I mean the complete work as perfect as you can get it.
Friday:
Bring in your final revised draft of your written piece. Be prepared to present it. The work to the class.
Sincerely,
Hampton

Essay Draft 2 (Post Due by Friday's Class)
Hi Class!
Side Note: You will find my replies to your outline posts under "comments" on the outline post.
You should have your essays emailed to me by this evening (Monday) so that I can have them read and type feedback by Wednesday. I have already received Jenae's. Good job, girly! You must post your second REVISED AND EDITED essay drafts here for feedback (Due by Friday morning). I should see significant revision from your first to second draft, particularly since I will have given you feedback.
You are also required to bring in a copy of the revised essay to class on Friday. We will do some stylistic revisions activities in class Friday; therefore, it would behoove you to make sure your second draft has all the necessary content.
You will take home your drafts over the weekend with feedback to begin writing your final (Due Monday). I will post another blog under which you may post part(s) of your essay throughout the weekend to get feedback as you are writing. This will be good for if you are struggling with something and just want to get a little extra assistance.

Essay Outline
Hello Class!
Good job on keeping up with your research. It is time to begin structuring the essay. You will develop and post your Essay Outline below under "comments." You will notice that you probably need more research to substantiate your claim. In fact, you may need to continue researching throughout your entire essay writing process. Do not be afraid of this!
Comment on at least ONE person's outline, providing feedback (e.g. should the person change the order of their essay so that it is more logically structured; or that person needs to address a major assumption for one of his/her reasons).

AP Language Argument Research Log
Welcome Scholars!
RESEARCH LOG: You will catalogue and post a weekly log of your research onto our blog page (http://langartsjedi.blogspot.org). Include with each post a brief explanation of the significance of the research, what perspectiveof the issue is revealed in the research (political, economical) , and how you hope to utilize the research in your argument essay. By the end of week 1, you must develop a working thesis based on your research. At this point, you will conference with me on the plan for your paper.
STAYING IN TOUCH: After you have met with me, you must post your thesis with your pre-posted research. As you continue researching and posting, review the thesis statements and research of at least 2 classmates (No more than 2 students can comment on one person). Respond to your selected peers, evaluating and critiquing the reliability, strength, and usefulness of their research in relation to their thesis. Read the peer evaluations of your own research, making changes/modifications if necessary.
