Summer Assignment Modification

Hello Class,
You must begin blogging by July 1st.

I've decided that I do not want you to begin analyzing the use of rhetorical strategies in the works of others until we've begun class. While I do want you to be able to define and recognize the differing appeals and rhetorical devices, it's a good idea to begin analyzing together in class before you do it on your own. For this reason, I've opted to eliminate assignment #3.

This leaves assignment # 1 and # 2. Regarding assignment # 2, you may stop at page 93. However, keep in mind that I will assign the remainder of the book during the first weeks of school; therefore, if you wish, you can go a little further. You will be responsible for learning all for rhetorical devices as they are vital to the course.

As always, you may contact me if you have any questions.
Ms. Hampton

  1. women are not ready to be fully equal to men. Although, there are many feminist groups fighting for equality in the work force and in areas of their daily life, they are not willing to do some of the things are expected to do now. Therefore, equality cant be reached until they are also willing to pay for man, open the car door for a man, and even propose to a man among other things they rather have the man do.

In order to be confident in the hands-on world of science and math
problems, boys are often much better prepared for what lies ahead than
girls, well before they even start at pre-school. By the time they
reach the lab, hands-on type of environment, many boys have had years
of experience playing with building blocks, Legos, cars, video games
and other technology which involves problem solving, whereas many
girls have played games which emphasize growing up and relationships,
playing with dolls, playing ‘house’, or drawing and painting. Girls
are, therefore, much less well equipped to manipulate problem solving
tools and equipment. This can put them at a real disadvantage at the
start, and make them feel uncomfortable and unable to compete with the
    boys in such an environment.

There are studies which suggest that girls who have been given the
opportunity to play with such toys (for example, girls with brothers
of a similar age who have access to these things) can cope just as
well as the boys can, given half a chance.

ethos:studies were made about how boys were better prepared for life than girls
