-Disney women are objectified because they are made to look petite and thin. Disney does not have characters that have a bigger body shape, and if the character does they are evil. They objectify women by making look 'appealing'.

#2-"To be a princess they need to have nice clothes and be beautiful. This is the way that they will get their prince and live happily ever after.'
-In order to be happy, a Disney princess must look appealing to attract somebody. The prince falls in love with the Princess' beauty before they get to really know them. This sends out the message that a woman must be beautiful to reach happiness.

#3-"Each female protagonist serves as the symbol of physical flawlessness. Along with a display of wholesomeness and virtuosity, each Disney heroine possesses a petite waistline, perfectly proportioned facial structures, skin-tight, skin-baring garments, and voluptuous curves that attract members of the opposite sex."
-Without these physical attributes these characters would have never found their 'true love'. Women are portrayed as trophies and eye candy in Disney movies. For example, in Beauty and the Beast, Gaston desperately wants to marry Belle because of her beauty. He wants to show her off, he's in love with her looks.

    1. Something to consider about the reason for Disney making female characters look petite is to promote a healthy life. Perhaps they do it because they know that children will want to be just like the characters.

    2. Another thing to consider is some of the princes fell in love with the princesses that didnt have nice fancy clothes like Bell (peasant), Pocohantas (tribal clothing), Tiana(a frog).

Kristen Bell and Husband Dax Shepard: "We had always had an agreement that when this little thing came into the world, all bets were off, no pictures would happen," Bell told TODAY Friday in an exclusive interview. "We now have a duty as parents to protect this little one."
    * Both parents throughout the interview discuss their role as celebrities and the role their daughter takes into this environment. Both Parents both strictly testify to their daughter not having any potential connection to the media. Thus, both parents have taken to use twitter as a way to reach out to their fans to boycott and not buy any magazines that contain any photos of celebrity children due to who their parents are. Bell then released the statement that "she will no longer do interviews with magazines that pay photographers to take pictures of celebrities' children" hoping that consumers think about their behavior.

Paparazzi Reform: "The purpose of The Paprazzi Reform Initiative is NOT to limit Freedom of Speech or the Press, but to restore some semblance of the inalienable right to privacy to everyone. "
    * In this article it briefly explains the right and limits of a paparazzi and how due to centuries ago when the founding fathers created the amendments they wrote them so that throughout the progression of the centuries the branches would be able to flex/expand/shorten the rights. But because of such rights an individual and group are still protected which means it is tougher than what they(founding fathers) predicted it to be. However, this isn't a reason for their to be a stop to the craze of the "paparazzo".

    * Based on new law changes, the punishment(s) and consequences for those(paparazzi) who break the law or fail to respect/follow the new law will be persecuted and be punished by being fined or sent to jail. This new law will will vow to protect the rights of both paparazzo and child. Therefore, no amendments are broken nor taken advantage of.

    1. #4 Kate Moss mobed at airport with daughter: (a video of supermodel Kate Moss and her daughter at LAX on March 29, 2008...[a] terrifying footage as Kate tries to leave the airport surrounded by police, paparazzi and flashbulbs.)
      * This video shows how dangerous and taunting it is for a child to be come-at like that by a group of men yelling while taking pictures. The child in this video seems terrified and confused...and the reaction of other people at the airport is outstandingly disturbing as they too look disgusted by the mob of photographers following Moss and daughter behind a check in desk as both hide under the desk to keep hidden from the paparazzo.

#5 Paparazzi Law (France): "The lines are blurry and debatable, but there's general agreement on the need to shield children from the media glare. To avoid lawsuits, magazines regularly blur out the faces of celebrities' children or simply pull the photos."
      * Based on this article it talks about how the laws on paparazzi are more strict when publicizing a photo, especially if it's a child. The article states that if a photo of a child and to be published on a magazine, the face of the child is either blurred out or the photo is simply pulled away by authorities. Along the description of the laws, this article provides and example of how Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt moved to France to protect their children and their expecting twins at that time. 2. A possible counterargument could be that celebrities "voluntarily surrender their right to privacy" when becoming famous. Indirectly, celebrities are inviting the paparazzi into their lives and that includes their children's lives as well. Basically, it is the children's celebrities fault.

  3. #1. The osirian temple in Abydos is a good example to start with, this temple is 50 feet below all other temples in Abydos, inside the temple there is a graphic for the flower of life (symbol of all major religions, and the blue print of creation) which was not carved into the rock, it was ‘laser burned’ into the atomic structure of that pillar, if you chip the pillar you still see the drawings going into the core; this pillar is a proof that some very advanced technology was available to the ancient Egyptians and for some reason it was kept a secret.

  5. #1: “Bioengineered crops will do wide-reaching damage to the environment. Insect-resistant crops may harm species that are not their target, such as monarch butterflies. On the other hand, the insects that GM crops are designed to kill could develop resistance to those crops, ultimately requiring farmers to use more aggressive control measures, such as increased use of chemical sprays.”

---One possible rebuttal for this argument is that genetically modified crops actually help ease environmental impact. Insect resistant GM crops, such as those containing the bacterial Bt gene (which makes the plant itself toxic to key pests), allow farmers to dramatically reduce their use of spray insecticides. In the future, GM seeds may allow farmers to maintain high yields while using less water and chemical fertilizer.

#2: “Animal testing has found evidence of the following possible health effects of GM foods, according to the American Academy of Environmental Medicine: immune dysregulation, altered liver function, changes in the pancreas, kidney, and spleen.”

--- One possible rebuttal for this argument is that GM plants must meet the same requirements as all other foods, according to the FDA. Agencies that have endorsed the safety of GM foods include the World Health Organization, U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and American Medical Association. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis conducted at Stanford University found no strong evidence that organic food is more nutritious or less likely to carry health risks compared to conventional foods.

#3: “The government and agribusiness tout the benefits of GMO’s to the public. They say that they are doing this to increase the food supply, help underfed nations, and assist farmers.”

--- This is an argument in favor of my claim. The benefit of producing GM foods is that there can be higher yields, which results in more food supply that can feed the growing population of the world as well as the underfed.

  7. 1. While the mainstream explanation (dismissed as the “official story” by 9/11 Truthers) usually ends with the initiation of these unstoppable collapses, the 9/11 Truth movement’s attacks begin there. Gage of AE911 Truth says on that group’s website, “Destruction [of the Twin Towers] proceeds through the path of greatest resistance atnearly free-fall acceleration” (Gage 2011; emphasis added). Many 9/11 Truther pundits drop the “nearly” and say simply that the collapses were at free fall. Truthers then insist that free fall acceleration indicates a complete lack of resistance, proving that the structures were demolished with explosives. We are also told that the sheer mass of the towers, “80,000 tons of structural steel,” would simply resist collapse.

    2. However, the hallmarks of actual demolitions (the characteristic “boom-boom-boom-boom” sounds and the flashes of high explosives) were completely absent in Manhattan on the morning of September 11, 2001. Many 9/11 Truth advocates, including architect Richard Gage, insist that high explosives must have been used to bring down the Twin Towers, as they say this is the only process that can possibly explain the “ejection of debris hundreds of feet from the towers.”

    3. The enigma of WTC 7 is becoming increasingly popular in Truther circles. We’re told that it wasn’t hit by a plane and was subjected to just a few “small office fires.” Yet it collapsed anyway, late in the afternoon of September 11, “falling neatly into its own footprint at freefall acceleration, just like a normal controlled demolition.” In particular, Truthers point to a brief period of freefall (2.25 seconds) that was confirmed by NIST in its WTC 7 final report (Sunder 2008; NIST 2010) as proving that the building was purposely imploded. However, WTC 7, too, fails to prove 9/11 was an “inside job”:

-This article is about putting a stop to rappers who make guns seem like the best thing to possess, and also to the misconception that if you don't own one then you're missing out/not cool. Since the inner city is bleeding from gun crime, it is the wrong thing to glorify. Similarly, rappers shouldn't glorify killings period.

It highlights the fact that "rappers who use violent and degrading lyrics must be educated as to why they are contributing to racism and sexism in America". 9. Thesis: women should stay at home and care for their children.

Virginia Ironside received criticism about being anti-feminist and old fashioned for writing on a blog that women should stay at home with her child. She responded with these points. This evidence shows present time understanding of the situation of whether women should stay at home or work:

“But if there was a choice, how many of us could argue against the intrinsic, biological bond between mother and child? Isn’t the kindest, most humane and positive approach to let baby be around you, Mummy, with your familiar smell, sound and touch?”

“When I hear of mothers going straight back to work after having a baby, I wonder, if they can’t bring themselves to look after their tiny, helpless baby in those precious early days, why on earth do they bother having children in the first place?”

“which made me feel so insecure, so unstable.”- This is how she felt when her mom neglected to pay attention to her because she was working on her fashion designs with her clients all day.

“I remember myself sitting outside that living room for hours on end, kicking my heels against the chair on which I sat, desperate for some attention from Mother.”

“she’d found there was nothing as fulfilling and absorbing as looking after a baby. Although it was more demanding, it was far more interesting and fulfilling than her job, and beat working in an office hands down.” This is a quote from another mother and her experience form staying at home.

I didn’t want my baby to feel the neglect I did. But, more than this, I didn’t want to break the instinctive, intuitive connection with my child.

History has set the example to show that men are the ones who should have the all might power. They are the ones who should provide for the family and the women are the ones who produce and have the natural skills to nurture their children.

“The existence of patriarchy may be traced back to ancient times. Lerner has stated that the commodification of women’s sexual and reproductive capacity emerged at about the same time as the development of private property, thus setting the stage for patriarchal social structures. The Bible is sometimes cited as exemplifying the original “father-rule” form of patriarchy in many of its stories. An example is the Adam and Eve story of creation, in which Adam is created first, followed by all the animals. Then Eve is created from part of Adam so that, in a sense, he may be considered her parent (Pateman 1989, p. 451). As such, Adam is clearly in the dominant position. This is consistent with Lerner’s explanation that “men learned to institute dominance and hierarchy over other people by their earlier practice of dominance over the women of their own group” (1986, p. 9). The sexual subordination of women was subsequently written into the earliest system of laws, enforced by the state, and secured by the cooperation of women through such means as “force, economic dependency on the male head of the family, class privileges bestowed upon conforming and dependent women of the upper classes, and the artificially created division of women into respectable and not-respectable women” (Lerner 1986, p. 9).”

Although this idea has dimmed down a bit with criticism that women can do the same as men, women are still not paid or given promotions equally. If women want to succeed in a position their usually have to act as tough as men.

“They fall far short of men in terms of pay, promotions, benefits, and other economic rewards. She has also observed that those women who are successful economically often reach their goals by emulating men, thus reproducing the masculine traits and characteristics that are associated with success.”

One of the major problems in regards to the use of fossil fuels is the fact that they require a limited resource. How, then, could another source of power dependent on limited resources be a viable alternative for fossil fuels? The best alternative to fossil fuels is a power source whose dependence is on renewable resources, such as wind or sunlight.

A counter-argument to my position is that nuclear power presents a zero-emissions alternative to fossil fuels. Switching to dependence on nuclear power would indeed greatly reduce the world's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and effectively begin reversing the effects of global warming. Though nuclear power eliminates the issue of GHGs, its solution to existing problems leads to new challenges for the world (see #4 and #5).

I don't believe in making statements like this one, which I clearly remember my mother saying to me: "This isn't music. It's noise." She was talking about the Beatles."
-Parents should start paying attention to what their child is listening/watching. This should not be all let to the decision of another person because it is your child and only parents know what is appropriate for their child and what is not.

Diction and connotation and even creativity play a part on the way people interpret a phrase or text. Meaning, it does not matter what the FCC censors because people will always have a word for other inappropriate words.

  12. 1.Although data shows that late-term abortions account for a very small proportion of the actual abortions completed in the United States, the symbolic significance of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act is much farther reaching than the act itself. Abortion foes have become emboldened to act ever more aggressively at chipping away at the edges of a woman's right to choose, and states have reacted swiftly to institute prohibitive legal barriers of their own. The polarization surrounding the issue of abortion makes it increasingly difficult to find a middle ground, and hostility and tension only continue to grow. History may show that the abortion ban of 2003 indeed marked a turning point—what is not known is whether it will ultimately be for better or worse.

2."When will we Americans face up to the fact that it's better to proactively prevent conception rather than abort a fetus at the back end of that conception?"

Human beings perform 46 million abortions annually around the planet. Year in and year out! That's 46 million women requesting and accepting an abortion of their fetus. According to the World Health Organization, 96 percent of those abortions represent a secondary form of birth control. That means they did not have access to birth control on the front end. It means they either couldn't feed a child, shelter it or provide for it—or they already had birthed too many children they couldn't feed or care for. Possible counterargument. Sometimes women prefer not to have their babies because they do not have the money to care for them

Many among this group intentionally choose to breed their pets, either for profit or for what they mistakenly believe to be a “fun” experience. Others choose not to spay or neuter out of ignorance, believing that their pets won’t breed accidentally."

-This is basically regarding the fact that many people choose not to neuter and spay their pets because they associate with breeding among pets or because they seem to believe it is simply unnecessary to do so.

#2 "Many people who breed their pets believe they aren't adding to the pet overpopulation problem if they find homes for all their puppies or kittens. But consider this: Every puppy or kitten sold by an irresponsible breeder means there is one more shelter animal that will not find a home. They have things so under control that they are able to adopt rescue animals from other countries. Can you imagine?"

  14. Reasoning from Authority -

"to outsource range from better-serving overseas markets to increasing the competitiveness of American business"(Weidenbaum). Companies in developed tend to outsource overseas because of costs. Companies in want to pay their employees as little as possible. Through outsourcing overseas to mainly underdeveloped countries companies are able to maintain financial stability.

    Reasoning From Statistics -
    # 2
“outsourcing customer service is associated with a drop of roughly 1% to 5% in a company's market capitalization,”(Whitaker,Krishnan, and Fornell). Major Companies look to outsourcing as a way to gain more money, but may actually end up losing money depending on the industry their in. Keeping the jobs local could create potential customers and can even fix the economy.

    Ethos:
    #3
“American Companies send jobs overseas and bring the profits back to the U.S with very little tax liability” (Jilani). Businesses often send jobs overseas in order to gain more profit and pay a small amount of taxes. Instead of these companies helping out the economy. they are mainly looking out for themselves.

    Pathos:
“Today’s Economy has lost over 760,000 jobs”(Obama-Biden). That means that a large amount of Americans are on unemployment, which only provides support for one year. So if that person has not found a job within that timespan, they are left with no funds. What if that person has a family to provide for and can not perform that duty. Due to outsourcing overseas Americans have lost something that this “great” country has promised. A chance at the American Dream.

  15. 1. A claim that I had about Obama health care is that it was going to affect the low and middle class income. However, “The Obama Healthcare bill is a bill enacted to grant more rights to Americans who struggle to obtain health insurance. Obama Care offers subsidies to low and middle income Americans to aid them in obtaining affordable quality health insurance and also does things like expand Medicaid to almost 20 million more Americans”. This show how many low and medical class will be offer an insurance that will both benefit them and be economically affordable for them.
    Source: http://obamacarefacts.com/obamahealthcare.php
    2. Another pro I found about Obama Health Care is that it make easier to get assisted by a doctor. “The new healthcare law also seeks to reform wasteful spending and health care programs that aren't working. Obama care ensures that Americans will be able to seek medical attention regardless of preexisting conditions or income. Obama's health care bill regulates the insurance companies, but your health care decisions are still made between you and your doctor. See more of Obama Care's Benefits.”
    3. Another claim I had against Obama Health Care is that Barrack Obama should not pass the law because it will cause a decrease in job. Mr. Clark says he is “very careful with the threshold”. To keep his full-time workforce below the magic number of 50, he is relying more on part-timers. He is not alone. More than one in ten firms surveyed by Mercer, a consultancy—and one in five retail and hospitality companies—say they will cut workers’ hours because of Obama care. A hundred part-timers can flip as many burgers as 50 full-timers, and the former will soon be much cheaper. This show how many owners are letting go of their worker in order to not pay for their worker insurance.

19 percent of same-sex couples who were raising children in 2009 reported an adopted child as a member of the household, up from just eight percent in 2000. Gates estimates that four percent of the adopted population in the United States -- about 65,000 children -- live in homes in which the head of the household is gay or lesbian.

According to data from Gary Gates, a demographer from the University of California, there is a large amount of children that are being raised in safe and secure families. Most of these children could have stayed living at an adoption agency for a longer time rather then finding a new loving home with loving parents that are just as eager to have a child.

Although research has largely discredited those prejudices, these preconceived notions nevertheless remain and may be one reason that some fertility programs appear reluctant to respond to appeals from gay men to achieve fatherhood through assisted reproduction. It is notable that a recent survey of ART programs in the United States found that fertility centers routinely accept lesbians but are less likely to accept gay males as patients

There are many preconceived prejudices that come to mind when two men want to have a baby. One of them being that gay men tend to sexually molest their child but these notions have been proven wrong with research. There still remains discrimination for the gay community which can be relatively compare to the discrimination of blacks not to long ago.

They are motivated by the same needs as those of heterosexual men: the desire to nurture and raise children, wanting the constancy of children in their lives, wanting to achieve the sense of family that children provide, and wanting a sense of generality and immortality through having children.

Many people want to live normal lives but people are ignorant and will not take into consideration that gay men want the same things in life that straight men do. There is this sense that men have to become protectors and suppliers for their own family, and only because a man is gay, then it is acceptable to deny him this right? Wanting to have a family is part of our nature as people only that gay men are biologically incapable to produce children.

---Proponents of affirmative action might state that affirmative action benefits minority groups who are at a disadvantage. However, the program has not truly benefited its intended target. Middle-class minorities cannot be said to be at disadvantage when they probably had an many resources to succeed as a white student.

The underlying assumption -- that only minorities can add certain ideas or perspectives -- is offensive not merely because it is untrue but also because it implies that all minorities think a certain way."

---Race cannot be an indicator for diversity; diversity should be more then ethic. For example, many students might identify as being of Latino origin, but that does not necessarily mean that they feel a cultural connection to their background.

  20. “Because the procedure clearly violates several basic human rights of girls, including the right to protection, health, gender equality, and physical integrity, many international treaties and conventions call for a worldwide strategy to end female genital mutilation.”

    - FGM/C is a practice that compounds unspeakable violence against women with discrimination, repression, and inequality. As the issue becomes more visible in the public sphere, states that allow FGM/C face increasing criticism and scrutiny by the international community. It must be made clear that no form of violence against women can be justified by any cultural claim.

“Effective action requires an understanding of the complexity of perceptions and beliefs surrounding FGM/C.”

-The cultural significance of FGM/C cannot be ignored. Eradicating the practice needs to be understood as a question and not of eliminating rites of passage. Those rights must be redefined in a way to promote positive traditional value while removing the danger and physical/psychological harm.

“In many societies, an important reason given for FGM/C is the belief that it reduces a woman's desire for sex, therefore reducing the chance of sex outside marriage.”

-As stated in the quote above, in FGM/C practicing societies, it’s extremely difficult/impossible for a woman to marry if she has not undergone mutilation. Therefore, it can be concluded that as a cultural practice, all women are pressured into it by tradition. However, it’s not necessarily considered a “bad thing” in their culture when everyone values tradition. Woman advocate for FGM/C because it’s tradition gives them respect and acceptance from their male partners and society.

  21. David Sirota believes the economy is struggling because most occupations are searching for college graduates rather than students who have only completed high school; in addition, it’s hopeless and pointless for a high school graduate to look for a job in the 21st century.

“… [most state] that the weak economy means the job outlook for college grads “is rather bleak,” it is even more bleak if you don’t have a post-secondary degree…”

This particular part is stating that education is one of the elements that is contributing to a student’s future of becoming wealthy (“economic success”). Even though the highest education won’t have enough good paying jobs, some type of education can help a nation’s unemployment rate with a job in general. Education has become a reason because today’s world is built with an economy based on knowledge.

“… an entire [nation] of PhDs and still have not enough good paying jobs. But that doesn’t mean access to higher education has nothing to do with a [student’s] economic success or an individual’s job-market prospects. As the data prove, education is a factor…”

    http://www.salon.com/2013/08/22/start_funding_college_like_high_school/

Some argue that a “high school diploma is the new college degree” because jobs aren’t accepting college graduates with a Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree, mainly the people with a Master’s or Ph.D.

The economy will only get better with students with a college degree, no matter the level the degree, but just the fact of receiving higher education shows the attainment of knowledge.

As seen, a person with at least a bachelor’s degree has a low unemployment rate, compared to a graduate of high school; a college graduate’s income is higher than just a high school graduate.

“Among those who graduate with a bachelor's degree, unemployment is 4.9 percent — about half the rate of [9.4 percent] those with only a high school diploma. Also, the income of those who have a four-year degree was about $1,000 a week, which is about two-thirds more than high school graduates.”

Research shows that plants respond electrochemically to threats and may feel fear, [98] so vegetarians are also causing harm every time they kill and eat a plant. Every organism on earth dies or is killed, at some point, so others organisms can live. There is nothing wrong with this cycle; it is how nature works".
    - Often time there is an ethical question posed to vegetarians. A lot of vegetarians don't eat meat because of their love for animals.
#2. "The inclusion of meat in the ancestral diet provided a dense form of nutrients and protein that, when combined with high-calorie low-nutrient carbohydrates such as roots, allowed us to develop our large brains and intelligence. [63] Evidence shows our taste buds evolved to crave meat's savory flavor. [57]"
-Meat is a big source of protein, however many green veggies contain the right amount of protein along with some nuts.
#3. "In one serving, meat provides all the essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), as well as essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, and B vitamins. [61] Most plant foods do not provide adequate levels of all the essential amino acids in a single serving".

  25. where did we come from ?
    "Intelligent Design." - New World Encyclopedia. N.p., n.d. Web. 05 Feb. 2014.
Intelligent design (ID) is the view that it is possible to infer from empirical evidence that "certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection" [1] Intelligent design cannot be inferred from complexity alone, since complex patterns often happen by chance. ID focuses on just those sorts of complex patterns that in human experience are produced by a mind that conceives and executes a plan. According to adherents, intelligent design can be detected in the natural laws and structure of the cosmos; it also can be detected in at least some features of living things.
Greater clarity on the topic may be gained from a discussion of what ID is not considered to be by its leading theorists. Intelligent design generally is not defined the same as creationism, with proponents maintaining that ID relies on scientific evidence rather than on Scripture or religious doctrines. ID makes no claims about biblical chronology, and technically a person does not have to believe in God to infer intelligent design in nature. As a theory, ID also does not specify the identity or nature of the designer, so it is not the same as natural theology, which reasons from nature to the existence and attributes of God. ID does not claim that all species of living things were created in their present forms, and it does not claim to provide a complete account of the history of the universe or of living things.
has shown me the correlation between evolution and natural selection
